Dobra Gora that translates as ‘Good Mountain’ is actually a green hill that rises above the village of Selo near Bled.
It is very convenient for early morning hike or late evening trek if you are staying in the village of Selo.

View of the countryside and Jelovica Plateau
Unlike its neighbouring hill Straža that overlooks Lake Bled, Dobra Gora offers a peaceful escape into nature during summer months. When on the top, you will enjoy the view of the countryside, lying below Jelovica Plateau, a massive karst plateau covered with forest.
From the top of Dobra Gora, you will also see Sava Bohinjka River, an emerald green river that starts its journey in the mountains of Triglav National Park.
When enjoying the view from Dobra Gora, look for the rock that has a shape of a tooth that rises above the village of Kupljenik. It is called Babji zob (Hag’s Tooth) and is part of Jelovica Plateau.
Hiking on Dobra Gora
To reach to the top, it will take you around half an hour if you start your hike at Na Jasi (have a look at the photos of the route below). The hiking trail goes through the forest and is thus ideal hiking option during hot summer days.
There are several trails leading to the top of Dobra Gora; however, in this article, I am describing the trail that is better maintained and the easiest to follow.
That trail that lies to the left when you enter the forest from the road going to/from the village of Selo features some wooden steps. As you will see, those steps make some of the steeper sections much easier.
You will know that you are on the top of the hill when you see two benches, an information board and ‘a booklet of visitors’ where you can sign and let others know that you were there.
On the top of Dobra Gora, you can take beautiful panoramic photos, sit on one of the benches there and enjoy the view or even do yoga if you like.
Relaxing walk through the forest
Enjoying the peacefulness of nature, smelling the forest and walking on soft terrain are three things that you will for sure experience during this hike.
If you are lucky (or quiet) enough, you might see some wild animals, like squirrels and foxes, while walking on this hiking trail.
If you are accommodated in the village of Selo, a morning hike to Dobra Gora might be a great start to the day.
Swiss natural healer Arnold Rikli who set up a health centre at Lake Bled in the mid-19th century would advise you to go hiking before having breakfast. And an interesting fact: Some of his patients also walked on the trails of Dobra Gora.
