Situated close to Lake Bled, Oštarija Peglez’n specialises in fish and seafood dishes. It is known for a delicious fish platter for two and grilled Calamari.
However, if you do not feel like eating fish, then you can have chicken, beef or pork. Non-meat eaters may go for pasta, potato or rice dishes.
You will recognise the restaurant that sits on the corner of an old, charming building by rustic furniture and playful decor.
OUR ORDER: We picked out two of the pasta dishes (which are normally served as ‘warm starters’ at Italian restaurants).
Oštarija Peglez’n is one of those restaurants in Bled that are centrally located and are normally very busy during summer months when the tourist season is in full swing.
We went there on a Saturday afternoon in June and were lucky to get a table at the restaurant’s patio. From our table, we had a view of Bled Castle and Lake Bled.
OUR EXPERIENCE: Our warm starters – tagliatelle with truffle mushroom sauce and spaghetti with prawns – appeared quickly even though the restaurant was almost full. Both pasta dishes that looked delicious arrived in pots with a long handle.
The waiter also brought us a basket of bread and a cup of parmesan cheese.
The pasta was cooked to perfection and tasted heavenly! The portions were well-sized.
CONCLUSION: Oštarija Peglez’n is one of the restaurants by Lake Bled with charming decor and relaxing atmosphere where you will get a food of good quality.
It seems like it is very popular among tourists, so making a reservation beforehand is highly recommended in summer months.
If you like fish, seafood, and pasta, then this restaurant is an excellent choice. Oštarija Peglez’n is not a typical Gorenjska style restaurant, but also offers some food with a local touch. The staff is friendly and helpful and speaks various foreign languages.
The only disadvantage is the restaurant’s location by the main road that could be very busy during the day (it gets better in the evening). If you dine inside, the noise of the traffic is less disturbing.
